Can I include images within my
email
message?
Yes you can. Simply edit your campaign and click on the message
tab. In the HTML editor, click on the image button.
You can either browse to an image on your hard drive, or enter
the full URL pathway to the image you wish to include in your message,
(see example). Web
images you wish to include must be hosted on a website or
hosting sever connected to the Internet.
Example:
http://www.small-business-mass-emailer.com/products/EMD01_FFFFFF.jpg

Can I embed images within my
email
message?
EMD does support embedding images. Be aware that many recipient email
servers block embedded images rendering them un-viewable. EMD
recommends linking to images hosted somewhere on a web or image
server to improve performance and deliverability.

I already have a subscriber
list. Can
I import it into Email Marketing Director?
Importing subscriber lists is not a problem. You will have to
export your current subscriber list from its current location into a
comma separated text file. Then in Email Marketing
Director click on the import list button, browse to the saved file and
match up the source field names with the ones in the EMD table.
|
| |
|
 |
How do I send more than 25
emails and get rid of the tag line?
In the free evaluation version of EMD, you are limited to 25 emails per
campaign, and 25 email addresses per list. In each email is a
small tag line "powered by Arial Software". To remove these
restrictions and the tag line simply purchase a license.
|
| |
|
 |
Can I personalize each email
for each
subscriber in my email campaign?
Personalization is easy. Just drop in a merge field from the more than
25 built-in
database fields, to personalize each email you send out.
Simply
edit a campaign and click on the message tab, click on the insert merge
field button, set your cursor in the message body where you want the
field to appear and click Insert. When the message is sent,
the
field name is replaced with the value for each record, personalizing
the message. Address a
subscriber by their first name, last name, or by their email address
using this feature. |
| |
|
 |
How many records can EMD hold?
There is no set limit on the number of records allowed in each list,
but for best performance, we recommend no more that 50K emails either
in one list, or broken into several. If you are exceeding
that
and are noticing a significant decrease in performance, it is probably
time to move to an enterprise level solution for your email marketing
needs. |
| |
|
 |
How can I change the
unsubscribe link
to say something other than "unsubscribe"?
On the message tab, click on the insert merge field button, and find
the unsubscribe merge field. You will notice that there are
two parts to this field, one is in quotes. To modify the link text for
your unsubscribe link, add the merge field to your message and simply
modify the text between the quotes. |
| |
|
 |
Should I use my regular inbox
for my bounce/unsubscribe account?
You should obtain a brand new POP3 email account to handle bounce and
email unsubscribes. When EMD checks the account it updates
the
appropriate email list, then deletes the bounce/unsubscribe message
from the selected email account. If you use an active
personal
account, EMD will wipe out any messages you have not yet
viewed.
In other words your bounce/unsubscribe account should be dedicated only
to EMD.
|
| |
|
 |
Can I use a free email
account for my bounce/unsubscribe account?
Unfortunately no, the bounce/unsubscribe account is used by EMD as the
return path address, and is essential to have it tied to your sending
mail server. If they are not related, your email will most
likely
be blocked. Also free email accounts like yahoo and gmail
require
ssl or signing on using cookies, which is not supported by EMD.

| |
|
 |
Can I add more than one
attachment?
Email Marketing Director allows you to attach only one file to your
outbound
messages. However, we do not advise even attaching one file
as
most spam filters
and
ISPs block attachments as this is the primary injection method of
dangerous viruses. If you want to send multiple attachments,
we
recommend that you put all the files you want to send in a zip
file. Please also realize that attachments decrease
performance
significantly so if you have to send an attachment, it should be small,
and of a standard file type. |
| |
|
 |
Can I import my own template
to the template list?
Yes, simply save your html document to a folder on your
computer.
Then in the message tab of any campaign, click on the Use a Template
button. Then click on the import template button and browse
to
the html document you created. This file is copied into the
EMD
template folder and is available as one of the template
selections. You can even make your own template the default
for
new campaigns.

How can I account for my SMTP
server's sending restrictions?
There are a few options with this. First you should find out
what those restrictions are to best account for them. To
bypass your SMTP server altogether, simply select the Direct Mode
sending option in the configuration section. This option may
not be available depending on how your network is set up, but if it is
available, this option will bypass the SMTP. If your server
limits you to so many emails per hour, you may want to segment your
list into several campaigns and filter, and send the segments
separately. You can schedule them to run on an hourly basis
or whatever you may need. Finally, if you have access to your
SMTP server, you can modify the setting there to account for you bulk
email marketing.
